The fourth state of matter

This was a really long story and for the most part I found it dull besides the imagery and description used throughout the story. In the first paragraph I really enjoy the description that the author uses and it paints an image in my head and the sensory images really bring it to life for me. It is a little boring to get into at first but for me the detail keeps me reading. It is sad about the vanished husband, and how she only gets to hear his voice over the phone. I like the description about what was in the boxes and the line “You know he’s turning over a new leaf when he leaves the Rolling Stones behind.” Really made me laugh because I can relate to that. To me the scientists seem really stuck up and think they know everything there is to know when in fact they do not. It kind of opens my eyes. Like the scene where they put out there cigarettes as if it was a sin to smoke, they are trying to hide who they really are behind their appearance. I feel bad for her when she finds out the news of the dead guy. The author was able to evoke some sympathy which is good.  Overall it was a sad story that seemed to drag on for me at least, the author was good at description and overall getting the message across but it was way too long and not enough interest to keep me going on reading it really, there were definitely some parts that the author could have left out and it the story still would have been great.

Fallacy of Red Bull

The fallacy presented in Red Bull's commercial more in depth this one they made in particular https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAiXlxtEd2k is that it is a false cause, (A false cause fallacy is when the argument assumes that because you do something or in this case drink Red Bull then it will give you wings.) because when you drink red bull it does not really give you wings or if anything drinks it, it does not give you wings. They play off of pathos, by evoking emotion in this by getting the consumer to think oh my god if i drink this it will "give me wings" when in fact it will not but it can "give you wings" in a certain context if you think about it as more energy. When in fact we all know that Red Bull does not actually give you wings. In the commercial the little boy gives his pigs Red Bull to drink so that they can get wings, so that when he asks his mom if he can go to the "Gentleman's Club" she will say when pigs fly and then when she looks out the window the pigs will be flying because they have gained wings by drinking Red Bull. Then he can go because pigs are flying. This is just one example of a fallacy used in a commercial there are a ton of them used in almost every commercial to sway you for their product and not the competitors product. They also have to use this fallacy to help promote that the product they have will actually do its job by providing you with more energy. It also makes an impact on the consumer by having the commercial be funny and entertaining it helps keep the image and slogan in their head so that they are more likely to buy that product than another product.

Revenge,Ego and the corruption of Wikipedia

I feel like it is crazy that anyone can just edit whatever they want on this website and all they have to do is set up an account and edit. So for example if you had a personal vendetta against someone, you can just edit all of the stuff that person posts and not only that but you can make them look bad by editing all of it. It just shows that just about anyone with very little to no knowledge and they  can do what they want with the blog and people will believe the information. In no way does this make it right but at the same time, we all know that Wikipedia will not change the way they are no matter what the cases are and how they appear. Wikipedia does have people that can watch over this stuff but with all the information on there, it would be impossible to be able to track it all and fix and edit it all, all the time constantly so some things will slip and not be caught and in return can hurt many people. You also never know either because the editors could also edit and change things based on how they want it to sound or be worded or if they dislike the person personally. This changes my view on how it works and the information from it because normally it is pretty reliable but from now on maybe ill use it as a starting point and use the references they give to help further my knowledge on certain subjects.

Cyclops Child response.

This in a way is very disturbing but in another way is understandable… if you found yourself in that situation it is very likely that you yourself would become a monster like the rest of the world and just ignore the “Cyclops” needs and slowly let it die. Does it make it right though? In a way it does because there was no way it would have lived; at the same time it does not because that’s like purposely killing without doing physical harm, just letting the body slowly shut down. It’s crazy that things like this happen in life but only the fit will survive in the end. I disagree with many of the doctors acting like it was okay to just do practice on it as if it really was nothing. I couldn’t imagine having to hear the baby scream day in and day out and not be able to do anything to help it but let it suffer because if you fed it, it would die. That is certainly something that would haunt me every single day and make me feel like a monster even though you are not one. Also it is unfortunate that some people think after a certain age you should just die because you have done your time, that’s playing with someone’s life and that should be left up to the person. Morals are morals and no matter what you can’t change them, there are unspoken morals and rules as talked about in the reading, although sad and harsh to admit it happens and it is accepted most people just turn a cheek saying it had to be done there was nothing that could be done. Rightfully so they are right, but does that make everyone a monster in their own way I will let you decide this…

Five potential paper topics

One potential topic i would like to use for my topic are the Nazi scientists. This has always been something that has interested me, it would also give me a way to further my knowledge on what they have done and why they did it. This fits the paper perfectly because only monsters could do the kind of things that they did to people.
The second potential topic i would like to use for my topic is the Nazi leader Adolph Hitler. He fits the description because of obvious reasons of what he did, but i firmly believe there is another motive behind this mass slaughter of people than just getting rid of not perfect Germans, and this could uncover the true monster that was always hidden.
A third potential topic i would like to use is Bigfoot because of the mystery that surrounds this creature. Another reason why i am interested in this topic is because there are apparent sightings of this creature near where i live at home, about an hour away from me. Also most people think of him as violent but i believe he is truly not violent.
A fourth potential topic for this paper i would like to use is demons many of the demons are said to be used for the devils purposes for religion and someone that try's to get other innocent people to do evil or not appropriate things is a monster.
The last potential topic for this paper i would like to use is aliens because there are so many different opinions on what they are like and it would be interesting to expand on that and see what we can really find and see if they are really a monster or not,

Zombie Apocalypse Background info.

The background of my zombie apocalypse is we are set right during the beginning of this hostile situation. Its as if you just woke up one day and all of a sudden there were zombies roaming this earth. The situation is set where you and your group of four friends must find some place to shelter and be able to survive for a while before making any rash choices and formulate a plan.
How the zombies in this apocalypse act with the world is they are just roaming the world searching for food (humans/ animals) and if an animal eats the flesh of a zombie they too become a zombie. You will be turned into a zombie by getting bite by one of them or drinking their blood or water if contaminated. You will not turn very quickly but you will have a fever then turn in merely hours after being infected of course dying first. The zombies will die if not feeding on flesh but this could take months. The zombies are slow moving creatures but deadly when close. How to kill the zombies is to sever the head, destroy the brain, or by severing the spinal cord.

The Ballad of Colton Harris-Moore by Bob Freil, the techniques i liked that he used.

The technique that Bob Friel uses in his essay that I would like to use is his way of going back and forth and tying everything together. How he starts off with action and then develops much of the essay to explain why this action was taken by him. Then including the chats of family and friends and even what the police think of Colt. I like all the information that he was able to get from the kids mother. Digging into his past that really helped define who Colt was and give the reader a better idea of why he was doing what he was doing. I also enjoyed his use of capitalization as if every time he used it he was introducing a new aspect into Colts life and what it meant to why he was there now. Also how he goes into detail of how people are supporting Colt even though the cops are not supporting him and what he means to this community. I also really enjoyed the way he structured this essay giving you the main points and not really beating around the bush with a bunch of details that had no point of being in there. He wanted to keep you informed and entertained. I also enjoyed his description of the little town that Colt came from because it really gives the reader an idea of how small and expensive the town is and how everyone knows everyone. These are some things I liked that he used and that I would like to use in my essay.
